I have not been able lately to pack in all the hours I wished I would in the studio. Nevertheless, my work has progressed a little. I always estimate it will take me less time to paint and once I am in the process, I am always surprised at how long it takes and how slowly I work. After all these years, one would think I could learn and adapt, but it is clearly not happening. Anyhow, all to say that I was in this position this week, the one where I look at my work and think : “Gosh, I’m a slow worker!”
I have given the three coats required on the skirt. Now it is only in red ocre. When I finish the 3 coats everywhere, I will, with glazes, bring other hues of color to the lot. Hence right now it all looks pretty bland but, rest assured, if I do things right, it should look more colorful and more “realistic” at the end. I also started applying the second coat of paint to the shawl. I am not confident at all there, but it does not show visually, so I am not sure why I mention it. There again I worked with only one color, earth green. I will add more hues with the glazes. I have not really worked on the top part of the painting yet. I will do that later. There are still many steps and I am far from the end, but I’ll get there, eventually.
Je n’ai pu mettre toutes les heures de studio que je souhaitais ces deux dernières semaines. Néanmoins, mon travail a progressé un peu. J’estime toujours qu’il me faudra moins de temps pour peindre un tableau avant de le commencer. Une fois que je suis dans le processus, je suis toujours surprise de constater à quel point je suis lente. Après toutes ces années, on pourrait penser que j’ai appris et me suis adaptée, mais… non. J’étais donc dans cette position cette semaine, celle où je regarde mon travail et me dis que je suis décidément lente.
J’ai donné les trois couches de peinture ocre rouge requises sur la jupe. Que cette teinte de couleur. Quand je terminerai les 3 couches de peinture partout, j’appliquerai des glacis qui apporteront d’autres teintes. Pour le moment tout semble assez fade puisqu’il n’y a qu’une couleur, mais soyez sans craintes, si je fais les choses correctement, le tableau sera plus coloré et plus « réaliste » à la fin.
J’ai aussi commencé à appliquer la deuxième couche de peinture sur le châle. Je ne me sens pas du tout confiante pour cette partie, mais ça ne paraît pas trop visuellement, donc je ne devrais pas en parler. Là encore, j’ai travaillé avec une seule couleur, terre verte. J’ajouterai d’autres teintes avec les glacis. Je n’ai pas encore vraiment travaillé la partie supérieure du tableau. Je le ferai plus tard. Il y a encore beaucoup d’étapes et je suis loin de la fin, mais j’y arriverai. Éventuellement.
